What to look for when long-form content moves from a desktop layout to a smaller viewport.

Keep the reading order

A responsive article should keep its central reading order: title, context, body, and the next useful action. Side content can move without interrupting that sequence.

A table of contents that sits beside the article on desktop can become a compact block above the body on mobile.

A smaller viewport should not mean a smaller understanding.

Let content set the rhythm

Use paragraphs with realistic lengths and headings that wrap naturally. Text should have enough space to remain readable when a reader enlarges it.

Check the longest category label and a title that spans several lines. These cases reveal more than a short placeholder does.

Return to the journey

An article is part of a larger browsing journey. Keep the route back to the list easy to find, and preserve the category the reader came from.

Related stories should open in the same experience so readers can keep exploring without losing their place.
